Gordon Seabright Volunteer of the Year Recipient Announcement
Congratulations to Ms. Evelyn Rumbolt of St. Anthony, this year’s recipient of the Gordon Seabright Volunteer of the Year Award.
Evelyn has demonstrated her commitment to her community through a lifetime of volunteering. She began her volunteer journey at 14 and is still giving of her time daily at the age of 79. From starting a community food bank and supporting the creation of a local cadet group, to forming a hospital auxiliary committee, holding various roles with the Anglican Church Women, and sitting on the Board of Directors for the Grenfell Health Foundation, Evelyn’s leadership has made a difference in the lives of many.
Aside from her leadership duties, Evelyn also understands the importance of the “little things.” She spends countless hours baking goods for local fundraisers and knitting items to donate to the hospital gift shop. She also spearheads an annual Christmas Card fundraiser and prepares Christmas stockings for patients at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital.
Despite the many changes the past few years, Evelyn has been a steadfast and constant presence, staying on top of things even during the pandemic. She is integral to the daily operations of the hospital gift shop and continues to mobilize others to fundraise and volunteer their time to various causes. Thanks to Evelyn’s efforts, thousands of dollars have been raised to help improve healthcare in the Labrador-Grenfell Health Region.
Humble to the core, Evelyn continues to volunteer and take on leadership roles simply because of her love of volunteering and helping others. She is a true life-time volunteer and is more than deserving of this recognition as this year’s recipient of the Gordon Seabright Volunteer of the Year Award.
